Police Quest

Scene Info

This is the first image I've ever done where I tried to use all image textures - didn't quite make it (there 3 Bryce procedurals). Anyway there are 14 photo textures (5 with separate alpha bump, reflection and transparency images) and 5 images created in Photoshop. The photos for the buildings are from ArtBeats and KPT Power Photos. Moon and stars from the Solar Views site and other material photos from DV Garage and SplineMonkey. The model for the .45 is from Ed Baumgarten. Most of the objects are Bryce primitives except for the front left building, the mounted Police gun and the street lights, which were created in Form*Z and Michael 2 / Ninja Suit from DAZ 3D.

The police car is made up entirely of Bryce metaballs and uses the photo texture from the second right building, with some stripes and stuff painted on in PShop.

The building at front right was created by bring the building image into Form*Z and tracing and cutting out the windows and walls. The cutouts were then offset and extruded. This was then brought into UVMapper and given a Planer mapping

The moon is actually a radial light with a moon image applied and with a low intensity but infinite range, which provided nice fill light.

Rendered on a 500MHz Mac at 144RPP with Soft Shadows for all the foreground lights. Render time about 14 hours.
